The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Owo Diocese has reappointed the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, as its Chancellor.

Announcing the resolution of the synod at the thanksgiving service commemorating the end of its 2019 Synod, Diocese of Owo,  the Diocesan Bishop, Rt Revd, Dr Stephen Fagbemi, said the governor and other officers of the Diocese would serve for another three years.

Preaching on the theme of the synod: ‘I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me’, Rt. Revd Ezekiel Dahunsi, the Bishop of Idoani Diocese, stated that the theme was a declaration of faith by those who have personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Bishop urged Christians to be resolutely determined to serve God with unwavering faith no matter the situation at hand or conditions which they find themselves.

He said Christianity does not mean absence of  problems or unfortunate circumstances, but a fervent declaration of the authority of the Almighty to make all situations normal and worthwhile for those who acknowledge His authority.

Rt. Revd  Dahunsi said the race of life cannot be ran with human strength and knowledge except by the power of the Almighty through Christ who strengthens the faithful ones.

The Bishop used the opportunity to commend the Chancellor of the Diocese for being a worthy ambassador of the Church and Christ.

While saying that Governor’s approach to governance has remained salutary and beneficial to the people of the state, the Cleric appealed to him to remain in Christ for the sustenance of his strength so as to record more monumental achievements in office.

High point of the Thanksgiving Service, held at the St Patrick’s Church, Ijebu- Owo, was the presentation of Awards of Service by the Church to several personalities, including the former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Mrs Titi Laoye-Tomori.

Rending his charge earlier on Friday, Bishop Ayodeji Fagbemi said the herdsmen crisis currently rocking the country could degenerate to a full blown war.

Right Reverend Fagbemi said the situation called for an urgent and serious commitment on the part of the government.

“The herdsmen crisis currently raging in this land, if unchecked, could lead to major breakdown of law and order or a full blown war”.

The cleric frowned at the inability of government to fight adequately the insecurity challenges in the country.

“Already we have found  ourselves in a position where various groups are giving the president ultimatum.

“Where is this going to lead us? We are anxious that our government is failing at meeting its most basic task of providing security for the people of this land”.

He queried the ‘Fulanisation’ Agenda saying that this has grown into a large scale suspicion by other ethnic groups in the country and therefore called on government to act decisively by “acting without prejudice, to suggest that one ethnic group is superior to the other”.

Reverend Fagbemi while querying the rationale behind RUGA settlement in the country it is the most worrying thing.
