Oyetola charges traditionalists on Yoruba values, culture

The Traditional Religion Worshippers Association (TRWASO), Osun State Chapter has been advised not to rest on their oars in rededicating their efforts to propagate the cultural ethos and values that makes Yoruba race distinct among others.

Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola gave the charge at the foundation lying ceremony of the Association’s Secretariat Complex in Osogbo.

He noted that the role of TRWASO in the development of the State cannot be over emphasised.

Oyetola who was represented by his Deputy, Mr. Benedict Alabi urged them to consider it as an important duty to equip young people with right values.

He urged them to desist from inimical vices like, ritual killings, get rich quick syndrome and other things that are inhumane in the course of doing their legitimate work.

The state helmsman appreciated the association for supporting the present administration and particularly for their commendable role in the successes recorded by the administration in the State.

He also commended them for making room for religious tolerance among the three dominant religions in the state.

Oyetola observed that the project will dignify the activities of the association and strengthen it the more.

In their separate remarks, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Obawale Adebisi and the Ataoja of Osogbo land, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, lauded the state government for treating all religions equally.

Obawale who charged the association to continue to support the present administration for her to be able to complete the project, also disclosed that government was working to enact a new law that will detail how palaces should be constructed in conformity with the ancient pattern.

Earlier in his welcome address,  the President of TRWASO, Dr. Oluseyi Atanda appreciated  Oyetola for securing the land and assisting them financially to commence the project.

He promised that the association will work assiduously to expand the tentacles of the religion in the state, while pledging that TRWASO will make judicious use of the opportunity given to it to better the lots of the people.
