Police arraign contractor for fraud

The Nigeria Police, Ondo State Command has dragged a contractor, Rabiu Kehinde Adeniyi, before an Akure Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly defrauding his client N3.1m.
According to the Prosecutor, Adeoye Adesegun, Adeniyi was said to have tricked and collected the sum of N3 million from one NNAH NAOH EKPENO, under pretence of supplying him with Aluminum roofing sheet, PVC ceilings and ceiling fan.
The prosecutor told the court that, the accused person collected the money and ran away to Ibadan but was tracked by the police before he was arrested.
The accused person facing a two-count charge of stealing and fraud pleaded not guilty.
The offences were committed on June 20, 2020 at about 10:30am at Akure within the jurisdiction of the court.
They were contrary to and punishable under sections 419 and 399(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol 1 Law of Ondo State Nigeria, 2006.
Counsel to the accused person, Mr N. J Onomie, pleaded with the court the his client his ready to start paying the money back and if he can be granted bail all the money will be refunded.
In his ruling, Magistrate Olanipekun Mayomi, granted him bail with the sum of N1, 000,000.00, one surety in likely sum and adjourned the case to September 19, 2020.
