Driver hit okada man in Akure

A 19-year-old teenager, has been dragged before an Akure Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly hitting an Okada man along Falana road via Igbatoro road, Akure.
Miracle Kayode was said to have on August 31, 2020 at about 5:10pm along Falana road Akure, in the Akure Magisterial district being driver in charge of Toyota Camry with registration number JTA199 AA, drove recklessly by leaving his lane and hit one Olajubu Mayowa, riding on his Boxer motorcycle with registration number JBD 957 XH and caused him several injuries and fractures on his left leg .
The Prosecutor, Adeoye Adesegun, told the court that the accused person, was on the aforementioned date took his neighbour’s vehicle, Toyota Camry with registration number JTA 199 AA without driving license and drove recklessly in a dangerous manner, and ran into an Okada rider, Olajubu Mayowa, smashed his motorcycle and ran away before he was later arrested.
The accused person pleaded not guilty.
The victim was said to have been transferred to Gani Fawehinmi Diagnosis Center in Ondo for emergency treatment.
The offences committed were said to be contrary to and punishable under sections 7(1), 18 and18 (5) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol 1 Law of Ondo State Nigeria, 2006.
Counsel to the accused person, Mr. Taiwo Kayode pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy and grant his client bail in a liberal term. He added that the victim has regained consciousness and responding to the treatment.
In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate Olanipekun Mayomi, ordered the remand of the accused person in Police Custody and thereby transferred the case to another court for definite trial.
He adjourned the case to September 10.
