Resumption: SUBEB tasks teachers on dedication

As schools commenced the third term for the 2023/2024 academic session, Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board, ODSUBEB, has enjoined teachers to double up their efforts to ensure their students and pupils perform excellently well in their forthcoming terminal and other examinations.

In a statement signed by the Director of Information and PR of the Board, Prince Bolu Diesel Ajijo, the Executive Chairman of the Board, Victor Olabimtan, gave the charge at the end of the statutory monitoring of schools resumption at the commencement of the new term.

Olabimtan who was represented by a Full Time Member, Princess Funmilayo Ademulegun-Browm, who led the team comprising the Permanent Secretary of the Board, Chief Akinbamidele Akinnagbe, Director of Quality Assurance Olusojj Okedusi and other Staff in Akure South Local Government, commended the teachers for their commitment to teaching.

He was very impressed with the attitude of teachers and their headteachers, enjoining them to maintain work ethics.

According to him, “the rewards for teaching, especially for teachers, are no more in heavens as it were, but now here with us. Everyone gets the rewards of what he or she did here on earth. As you take care of other people’s children, so also God will make provision for other people to care for your children wherever they go.”

Also, the Permanent Secretary, Akinbamidele Akinnagbe, who took time to examine the teachers’ record books in schools visited, warned that Head Teachers would be held accountable for every infraction committed by teachers under them.

He admonished the teachers to work on pupils’ enrollment drive, especially at the beginning of the first and second terms and adhere to teaching practice rules to resume in their various schools at least a week before resumption.

Director of Quality Assurance, Mr Ben Adesoji Okedusi encouraged teachers and learners to approach this period with a renewed sense of dedication and commitment to study, saying, education is a powerful tool that can transform lives and communities, but it requires effort and persistence.

According to him, the role of teachers is crucial in shaping the minds of our future leaders, adding that dedication to teaching and mentoring will inspire and motivate students to excel.

Consequently, he enjoined them to prepare their lessons diligently, engage with their students, and create a supportive learning environment that encourages curiosity and growth.
