Two feared dead in Akure auto crash

Two persons were feared dead when a motorcyclist rammed into a jeep along NNPC Mega station Ilesha / Owo Akure road in Ondo state

The jeep with registration number FK 28O FF was alleged to have been driven by a Permanent Secretary of the Cabinet Services  of the Governor’s  office, Alagbaka in Akure.

The unfortunate incident occurred at about 6:30pm yesterday.

It was learnt that the motorcyclist drove in a dangerous manner and reportedly rammed into the jeep which was coming from a direction heading to Akure.

An eyewitness account told The Hope Metro that one of the victims died on the spot while the second victim sustained varying degrees of injuries and was rushed to the state hospital by men of Road Safety Corps who visited the scene.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Tee -Leo Ikoro who visited the scene, said one person has been confirmed dead while the other was rushed to the hospital.

He said the driver of the jeep has been whisked away to avoid mob attack by angry youths who rushed to the accident scene.

However, report reaching The Hope metro indicated that the Jeep was set ablaze in the presence of over 20 policemen deployed from various divisions and tactical squad.
