A 60-year-old woman, popularly called “iya Owolabi” on Monday slumped and died while cooking moi-moi and pap she wants to sell at Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The incident occurred around 08:00 a.m. at Akinjagunla mini market, along Ojojo Road.

According to an eyewitness in the market, Bose Akinwale said the deceased, while cooking fell and was rushed to the nearest hospital by sympathizers were she was confirmed dead.

Akinwale said the doctors that attended to the deceased said her blood pressure was above normal.

According to her, “We don’t really know much about her, we only buy moi-moi and pap from her”, she noted.

Reacting, the Yaba Division Police said nobody came to the station to report such case to them, saying they will carry out proper investigation.

The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the state hospital mortuary in Ondo.
