Two internet fraudsters, popularly known as ‘Yahoo Boys ‘ have confessed to men of the Osun Police Command that they killed their colleague because he was richer and making more money than them.

Wahab Hammed ,28, and Adegoke Ayobami, 31, were apprehended by detectives of the State Police Command after killing their friend, one Wasiu Oguntade, whom they claimed was richer than them despite they were engaged in the same internet fraud.

Reports had it that Wasiu was murdered by his close associates in Modakeke, Osun State after they lured him into  a  bush under the guise of seeking spiritual help and killed him with a machete on Sunday, August 14, 2022.

The Hope Metro gathered that the suspects were arrested after some farmers who sighted them inside the bush committing the dastardly act  quickly alerted the police.

It learnt that the police mobilized and acting on intelligence report apprehended them and upon intensive investigation , the suspects  took the police to where they killed the deceased.

During interrogation, the suspects revealed that  they killed their colleague because he was making more money than them through ‘Yahoo Yahoo’.business.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opolola, while speaking with newsmen at the state police command’ headquarters in Osogbo said the suspects were arrested on August 12 at Alaro Area, Modakeke, Osun State.

According to her, “Investigation revealed that the suspects and the victim were friends and internet fraudsters popularly called ‘yahoo yahoo.’

“Having  discovered the deceased was always making money more than them, the duo conspired and lured him to an uncompleted building in a remote part of Alaro area, Modakeke in a bid to collect money from him and in the course of struggle, they  killed him.

Speaking to newsmen, one of the suspects, Hammed  Wahab, confessed to killing Oguntade because he was making more money than them in the internet fraud business.

According to the Wahab, Oguntade was macheted to death.

He said: “I am Hammed  Wahab, I am 28-year-old, I am a tailor by profession and I have a shop. But I do ride motorcycle to get more income. I am from Modakeke in Adesiyan compound.

“Wasiu was a friend to Sodiq. I know him through the latter and he was into internet fraud. He had been into yahoo before our friendship began over a year ago.

“Ayo and I killed Wasiu because he always told us about his achievements and  how much money he was making from internet fraud. He also used to flaunt his successes, like opening shop for his wife, bought gold and many more. All these grieved my heart and made  me envy him.

“I also engage in internet fraud, but I have never hit any money.
