Why Buhari must implement CONFAB reports -Oleyelogun

The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr. Bamidele Oleyelogun has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to implement the 2014 National Conference recommendations.
The Speaker who doubles as the Chairman, Nigeria Conference of Speakers, South West zone expressed hope that Nigeria would be great if her potential could be fully harnessed.
He said “I enjoin all concerned citizens, home and abroad, stakeholders, government functionaries at all levels most especially the presidency to look into the implementation of the 2014 National Conference.”
The Speaker noted that the 2014 CONFAB was aimed at proffering necessary solution to the challenges facing the country.
“The 620 recommendations contain issues of resource control, fiscal federalism, devolution of power, creation of states, forms of government, revenue allocation and ethnic nationalities.
“The report made by intellectuals and prominent thinkers was aimed at restructuring Nigeria and it touched virtually all aspect of the socio-economic and political challenges bedeviling the country. If implemented, our country will be great again and those agitating for separation will down tool and work towards retaining our status as a pride of Africa.” he stated
Meanwhile, Oleyelogun has described the step taken by Governor Akeredolu on the establishment of Amotekun Corps as legendary.
He said since its establishment, Amotekun has been complementing the effort of the Nigeria Police, NSCDC, DSS and other security agencies.
The speaker, who said the State is now more peaceful added that other governors should emulate Akeredolu leadership feat in tackling insecurity.
He also appreciated the Governor for signing the bill of Legislative and Judicial Autonomy into Law.
“I urge Nigerians not to relax against COVID-19 so as not to reverse the gains that Nigeria has made in fighting the pandemic. I congratulate Nigerians once again as we celebrate Nigeria at 61,” Oleyelogun said.
