Why state exams won’t be conducted simultaneously-Govt

To achieve a hitch-free exercise in the conduct of examinations in Ondo State, the Basic Education Certification Examination (BECE) and the Joint SS11 Promotion Examination would no longer be conducted simultaneously .

This decision was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the first stakeholders interactive meeting on the conduct of 2019 State Examinations held at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Conference hall in Akure, the state capital.

The communiqué also stated that examination papers should be properly parceled and sealed to ensure security and prevent leakages.

According to the communiqué: “Examination time tables should be released early enough at least one month earlier and be religiously followed and the conduct should not exceed the normal school hours.

The statement reads further:, “Henceforth, there shall be statutory meeting of stakeholders to deliberate on the conduct of State Examinations before and after” it added.

In an interview with the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Femi Agagu said the interactive meeting became imperative so as to get it right in future examinations.

He said the stakeholders need to get together  to plan and after it to review what  happened  so as to have good result.

Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Rev Akin Asaniyan posited that there is need to meet with stakeholders to brainstorm so as to identify possible gaps that they need to bridge to enhance good performance in the future.

He enthused that all that  was agreed upon at the meeting would be followed religiously.

One of the stakeholders, the state chairman of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS, Mr Mebawondun Ajinde described the meeting as apt, saying that people have been saying a lot concerning the last state examinations .

Also, the Chairman of Ondo State Parents Teachers Association (PTA),Chief Abimbola Omoloja said being a major stakeholder has been able to know what happened in the last examination and thank them for assuring that such will no occur again.
