Yelutide: Ekiti Obas’ council laments cost of food

Ekiti State Traditional Council, has expressed concern over what it described as astronomical rise in prices of all sorts of foodstuffs.
The Chairman of the Council who is also the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, appealed to the traders to consider the downward review of the trend.
The monarch gave the charge in a statement made available to Journalists on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti and signed by his media aide, Chief Ajibade Olubunmi.
The statement stated that the traditional institution in the state had observed ” the unnecessary and arbitrary increase of prices of food by some traders in several markets in Ekiti state and called for caution.”
The Chairman called on all market leaders including the Iyalajes and Iyalojas to put measures in place to halt the ‘astronomical increase of foodstuffs prices in many Ekiti markets”.
” The Alawe noted that it was harmful for the economy of Ekiti State to allow the skyrocketing of food prices continue.
” Oba Alabi therefore pleaded with all traders in the state to consider the plights of the poor people and the peculiar economic status of Ekiti State in fixing prices
” He also added that everybody must be involved in making Ekiti great,” the statement said.
