Youths vow to sack monarch for abandoning palace

The Edemosi community in Ila Local Government area of Osun State has vowed to sack their traditional ruler, Oba Adeniyi Olaniyan, the Edigbo of Edemosi if he refused to relocate back to his palace.

In a statement issued at the weekend by the  Youth leader, Sunday Awosina, Dapo Awosina (Secretary) and Woman Leader, Fotodun Dupeola respectively gave the monarch seven days ultimatum to come back to his palace or face the wrath of the community.

They accused the king  of ruling them from another community in Ila -Orangun which they said was against the custom and tradition of the town.

They said since  Oba Edemosi was crowned king, he has not for a day slept in his palace, rather, he chose to take refuge in Ila community sighting insecurity as yardstick while he abandoned his royal home.

The seven days ultimatum according to the statement was for the traditional ruler to either return to his palace or be prevented from being the monarch of the town.

The letter to this effect has been forwarded to Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of zone 11, the Commissioner of Police, DSS and the palace chiefs.

The letters reads: ” This is to inform your honorable office that the youths and women of Edemosi kingdom has written a letter of notification to the above named King to demand for the followings before the next seven days.

” Letter of apology to all Edemosi women for the insult and embarrassment meted on them on the March 12, 2022 during the community meeting in the palace.

Reacting, the monarch enumerated his achievements recorded since he became king like renovation of Secondary school in the community.

The  added that the  community had been left behind for donkey years and  met nothing when he became the king, and  used N14.5 million to build the palace.

His words “I built apartment for teachers using my personal fund. I employed teachers in the school. I facilitated good road from Igbajo to our community, I also ensured that there is electricity.

“There is no adequate security in the palace, no perimeter fence and I cannot leave my security to chances, I may be kidnapped.”
