2023: APC S/West leaders ‘ll meet with region’s aspirants

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the South West will meet with presidential aspirants from the region on Friday May 6, 2022 in Lagos.

The meeting is being convened by Chief Bisi Akande, former Governor of Osun State and founding chairman of the party and the former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba among other party stakeholders.

Among the five aspirants of the APC from the region include the APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu and Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, who have all declared interest to contest for the president under the platform of the party.

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi is being expected today to make a pronouncement on his undisclosed presidential ambition, while the former Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole will do same this week to run for presidential race.

They were invited to the meeting which will take place at the Lagos State Government House in Marina according to sources with details of the proposed meeting.

All those who consulted with President Muhammadu Buhari, according to available information were said to have received his “blessing” to the extent that he did not ask any of them not to proceed with their presidential project.

The meeting is to discuss on how the leaders will reach a common front with all the aspirants ahead of the party’s presidential primary to pick it presidential candidate slated for May 30 and 31.
