2,200 Corps members for orientation in Ondo

A total of 2,200  corps members are expected to take part in the 2020 Batch ‘A’ service year Orientation Course in Ondo State.

It was learnt that the management of the scheme in the state has put in adequate arrangement for the purpose.

This was disclosed in a release by the secretariat of Ondo State  National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, made available to The Hope.

In the release, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Grace Akpabio said that the Secretariat has complied with health safety measures approved during the Pre Orientation Workshop held at the Conference Hall of Gowon House, the Directorate Headquarters of the Scheme.

According to the State Coordinator, the managers of the Scheme in the Sunshine State has placed hand sanitizers and washing basins in all the strategic places within the Camp right from the main gate to all the hostels and public’ places such as Administrative Block, Registration Centre, Multipurpose Hall, Camp Market, Clinic, General Store, Worship Centres, Kitchen, Man O’ War Bay, Pavilion and Parade Ground.

Mrs. Akpabio advised the prospective corps members to take advantage of medical provisions which the Secretariat has put in place to fortify themselves.

“We do not have immunity against diseases or illnesses but I want to assure the prospective corps members posted to Ondo State that we have done all what is humanly possible to prevent any outbreak of diseases in our camp. We have enough hand gloves and face masks to go round all the participants.

The NYSC boss allayed the fears of parents as she said: ‘our mandate is to protect all participants and as parents, we shall stop at nothing to ensure that the prospective corps members have the best camping experience ever’.

The State Coordinator appealed to all Security Agencies to intensify monitoring and surveillance of all the routes leading to the camp to forestall any untoward happenings.

She equally appealed to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) not to exploit the visitors majority of who are coming to the State for the first time.

The Area Coordinator Southwest Zone, Mr. Emmanuel Danjuma Attah visited the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Ikare-Akoko to monitor the level of compliance of the policy directive and he expressed satisfaction on what he met on ground.

The 2020 Batch ‘A’ (Stream 1) breaks on Tuesday, 10th March, 2020 with the Swearing-in-ceremony holding on Thursday, March 12, 2020.
