40-yr old man shot dead in Owo despite curfew

The Ondo State Police command has confirmed the killing of a suspected notorious cultist, Nasir Isiaka in Owo.
Nasir, 40yr-old, was shot dead in the early hours of Sunday amidst recent cult classes in Owo, which led to the State Government declaring a curfew in the town.
The killing, according to a source, might not be unconnected with the recent cult clash that claimed lives in the town.
Confirming the latest killing, the Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Mrs Funmi Odunlami, said “the command can confirm the murder of one Nasir Isiaka, a notorious cultist who has been on the police wanted list.
“The police at A’Division Owo today received a distress call that someone was shot at LA Igbanasa area of Owo by 2 masked men, on getting to the scene, the police discovered that the deceased was a cultist who participated in the End SARS Protest, attacked Uso division and the division and stole an AK 47 and bullet proof belonging to the Police, he also participated in the killing of one Adedeji Rafiu a.k.a PA.
“His remains has been deposited in the morgue by the police, effort is on to apprehend the men behind the mask.”
It will be recalled that no fewer than four people were killed by suspected gunmen believed to be cultists in Owo on January 6, 2025.
This led the State Government to declare dust-to-dawn curfew in the ancient town. The clash, which engulfed the town, also led to the destruction of many shops and properties, while numerous residents sustained injuries.
Oladipupo, 52, the victim was a well-known figure in the community, and his death has sent shockwaves throughout the region.
Unconfirmed reports indicated that four people were killed in the clash, which left scores injured, including a mother and her child, who were hit by stray bullets during a reprisal attack.
The violence reportedly erupted on Sunday, January 5, when Oladipupo was gunned down by unidentified assailants.
Sources linked the incident to a long-standing political feud that has claimed numerous lives and destroyed properties over the years.
The killing had sparked tension in Owo, prompting security agencies to deploy personnel to maintain peace and prevent further unrest. Yesterday incident was the latest in a series of violent attacks in the town.
