Puff Adder:Ondo Police bares fang

In its determination to tackle violent crime and criminality in the Ondo State, the Police Command yesterday launched Operation “PUFF ADDER”.
‘Operation Puff Adder’ an initiative of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, is to stem the rising tide of banditry, armed robbery, kidnapping, cattle rusting and other violent crime being Perpetrated across the country.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Undie Adie said it is an initiative that would send warning signals to all criminal elements across the country that the Nigerian police is determined, to check all forms of criminalities in Nigeria under control.
The boss said that IGP had launched the special operation in Abuja and directed all the Assistant Inspectors General of police (AIGs) in-charge of the zones and in states command to replicate same .
He stated that operation ‘PUFF ADDER’ adopted a new approach to crime fighting which is the intelligence led approach with its foundation on the principles of community policing.
Speaking with The Hope Metro, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Alahaji Jimoh Dojumo, lauded the operation, saying the state government will support the police to ensure that the operation is successful.
Also, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties and Strategy, Dr Doyin Adebowale, described operation ‘PUFF ADDER,’ as a right step in a right direction.
Also, the Deji of Akure Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, commended the IGP Adamu on the operation, saying it will further help to solve crime related issues happening across the country .
