The Executive Chairman of Ondo East Local Government, Mr. Joshua Ogunduyilemi, has launched a state-mandated desilting and drainage clearance exercise to ease the burden on residents and prevent flooding across the council.
The chairman, while flagging off the exercise in Bolorunduro, commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for continuously prioritising the welfare of residents of the Sunshine State by ensuring proactive measures that guarantee their safety and comfort.
He said, “In line with the people-centred vision of His Excellency, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, we commenced this project from Akinjise Street, and it will cover the entire local government.”
Ogunduyilemi reaffirmed his administration’s total commitment to the ‘Our EASE’ Agenda’ aimed at improving the lives of residents of the council area.
The chairman urged residents to avoid dumping refuse in waterways and to support the initiative to ensure the free flow of water.
He noted that collective responsibility was key to preventing a recurrence of flooding and sustaining the progress being delivered by the governor and the Ondo East administration.
He was joined at the flag-off by the Supervisory Councillor for Health and Environment, Ondo East, Mr. Owagbemi Ganiyu, while the exercise was supervised by Environmental Health Officers of Ondo East Local Government, Bolorunduro.
