Three persons, including two minors, have been arraigned before the Magistrate’s Court over alleged assault, destruction of a fence and violation of regulations on cattle herding in Ondo State.
The defendants, identified as Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar and his two children, Ibrahim Isa and Ibrahim Musa, were arraigned before Magistrate Damilola Sekoni on four counts.
According to the prosecution, Moses Osimen, the offences were allegedly committed on August 14, 2026, in Okitipupa Local Government area of Ondo State.
The prosecution alleged that the defendants were herding cattle along the road in violation of government regulations guiding cattle movement in the state.
It was further alleged that Abubakar and his children intentionally destroyed a fence belonging to a farmer, Mr Olajimi Iretolu, and assaulted him with a cutlass while threatening to kill him.
The prosecution also alleged that Ibrahim Isa and Ibrahim Musa, who are children of Abubakar, were underage and therefore not permitted to engage in cattle herding.
When the charges were read to them, the defendants pleaded not guilty to all the counts.
Counsel for the defendants, Olabode Famakin, urged the court to grant his clients bail on liberal terms, assuring the court that they would not jump bail and would be available throughout the trial.
He added that the defendants were ready to meet the bail conditions of N500,000 and provide two sureties.
Magistrate Sekoni adjourned the case to October 28, 2026, for hearing.
