A 53-year old man, Ojute Badmus, has been arraigned before the Akungba-Akoko Chief Magistrate’s Court over the alleged conversion of property and funds valued at N5.15m belonging to one Hon. Femi Agbede.
According to the prosecution, Badmus was brought before the court on five counts bordering on alleged stealing, obtaining money by false pretence, conversion and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.
According to the charge sheet, the defendant allegedly collected N1.4m as rent from occupants of Agbede’s hostel at the Permanent Site, Akungba-Akoko, but allegedly converted the money to his personal use in January 2026.
The prosecution further alleged that Badmus collected N1.75m from Agbede on May 22, 2022, purportedly to purchase three plots of land for him along Permanent Site Road, Akungba-Akoko.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Boboye, also accused the defendant of failing to use the money for the stated purpose and allegedly converting the N1.75m without the complainant’s consent.
The police further accused the defendant of repeatedly engaging in conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace through the alleged conversion of proceeds from the hostel rents and five plots of land belonging to Agbede.
