Panic gripped residents of Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo State, on Thursday morning as a yet-to-be-identified motorcyclist died in a road accident.
The accident, which occurred around the Idi Mango area of Ore, along the Ore-Okitipupa Road, involved three persons riding on motorcycles.
Eyewitnesses who spoke with our correspondent attributed the accident to overspeeding.
According to the eyewitnesses, the deceased was riding from Ore towards the Okitipupa axis at high speed when he collided with another motorcyclist.
The deceased died on the spot, while the other two persons involved in the accident were rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.
Some passersby who spoke with our correspondent urged motorists and motorcycle riders to exercise caution and avoid excessive speeding, particularly along the road.
They also called on the relevant authorities to install speed breakers in the area to help reduce the rate of accidents.
One of the passersby said, “Many accidents have occurred on this road. If speed breakers are installed in the area, I believe they will help reduce the rate of accidents.”
However, a police source confirmed the incident to our correspondent.
