A New Song at Peniel: Six years on,Bishop Joshua Ketiku’s legacy lives on

By Bamidele Kolawole

The atmosphere was rich with gratitude and reverence as worshippers, dignitaries and loved ones gathered at the Peniel Sanctuary on Sunday, April 20, to mark the 6th year remembrance of Bishop Joshua Omotayo Ketiku, a revered cleric remembered for his unwavering faith, humility and visionary leadership.

Themed “A New Song”, the event drew inspiration from Psalm 98:1, “O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things…” It was not merely a memorial, but a celebration of grace, impact and divine progress.

The guest minister, Pastor Ezekiel Oludare  Falade, delivered an impassioned sermon that captured the essence of the theme.

He said: “A new song is not a tune you have heard before. It flows from a heart that has encountered mercy and miracles. It is a song of appreciation, birthed from a place of joy and overwhelming gratitude to the Almighty.”

The service also featured the commissioning of Peniel Towers, a multi-purpose facility dedicated as A Place of Mercy. The building constructed in memory of Bishop Ketiku, now stands as both a spiritual and structural symbol of the grace that characterised his ministry.

In attendance were notable dignitaries including the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, represented by Engr. Johnson Alabi, and former Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, among others.

All through the programme, worshippers sang, danced and gave testimonies of how Bishop Ketiku’s teachings and personal example continue to shape lives, even in his physical absence. The choir’s harmonious renditions lifted the spirits of attendees, while elders and youths alike joined in praise and thanksgiving.

“Even in death, he continues to speak.” Peniel Towers is not just a building. It is a legacy. It is his new song,” they remarked.

Hosted by The Christlike Assembly Worldwide, the occasion underscored the enduring power of faith and the influence of a man whose life remains a melody of love, service and mercy.

As the final benediction echoed through the sanctuary, one thing was certain, this was not just a remembrance. It was a renewal. A revival. A new beginning. Indeed, a new song has begun.
