After 15 years of interregnum, the ancient town of Afin Akoko in Akoko Northwest Local Government Area of Ondo State finally gets a traditional ruler following the installation of Professor Abdul-Raheem Mustapha Adejoro on Tuesday.
Professor Adejoro who became the Alafin of Afin after all final traditional installation rites on Tuesday was selected in November after he defeated his closest rival, Ganiyu Adegboyega by four to two votes in the obaship selection.
The new Alafin attended the University of Ibadan for his first degree, the University of Ado-Ekiti for his Postgraduate Diploma in Education and his Masters and Doctor of Philosophy, PHD, degree from the Ekiti State University.
Speaking to newsmen during the installation ceremony, the former Commissioner for Natural Resources in Ondo State, Alhaji Rasheed Badmus thanked the state government for the approval given the selection of the new monarch.
Alhaji Badmus who solicited for the support of the people of the town for the new Alafin said a new dawn is set in the town as development will be the main priority of the monarch.
A member of the installation planning committee, Barrister Olubunmi Dada appealed to the people of the town to support the new Alafin and give room for peace as there could be no meaningful development where peace eludes.
