Former Ondo State Deputy Governor and governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ajayi Agboola, has withdrawn his appeal at the Supreme Court challenging the outcome of the state’s last governorship election.
In a letter dated September 16 and addressed to the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Agboola confirmed that he had resolved to discontinue the case after wide consultations.
“As the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, I have engaged in thoughtful discussions with my family, party members, associates, and legal advisors. After careful deliberation, we have reached a consensus that the appeal should be withdraw and I’m by this letter so do,” he wrote.
The PDP candidate said his decision was guided by a desire to uphold peace, unity and good governance in the state, stressing that his priority remained the promotion of peaceful coexistence across Nigeria.
“Having served as the former Deputy Governor and as a representative of my constituents at the national level, my foremost commitment is to the principles of good governance and the promotion of peaceful coexistence in Ondo State and across Nigeria,” he added.
He also extended a hand of goodwill to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, expressing support for his administration.
“In this spirit, I extend my heartfelt wishes to His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as he leads our state, and I remain dedicated to contributing positively to the State and National development,” he said.
Agboola urged stakeholders in the state to embrace peace and support efforts aimed at building unity and stability.
