The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved the constitution of a committee to review the implementation of the new minimum wage at the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO).
This is contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, on Wednesday.
The move followed engagements with management and labour unions over harmonisation of payment schedules for the staff of the institution.
The committee is headed by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Olaolu Akindolire. Other members of the committee are: Dr. Wunmi Ilawole, Mr. Olaleye Phillips, Mr. Asonja Oluwole Festus and Mr. Abiodun Ogunduboye.
The committee is expected to liaise with the Polytechnic’s management, the unions and relevant state agencies to audit payroll data, reconcile implementation gaps and recommend a sustainable payment structure.
This is just as the governor has cleared the outstanding three months salary arrears of the workforce of the institution.
Speaking on the development, the Commissioner for Education, Prof Igbekele Ajibefun, noted that resolving the salary issues was necessary to stabilise the institution and restore confidence among academic and non-academic staff.Educational Resources
