Akure North gets Customary Court

Residents of Itaogbolu were agog as the Customary Court of Appeal, Ondo State commissioned an arm of the court in the town during the week.
Equally, the excited residents were charged to maintain the edifice donated to house the Customary Court A&B complex.
Giving the charge was the President Customary Court of Appeal, Justice E.A Alade while delivering an address during the commissioning of the complex.
She said that the Complex can house over 100 persons and bring justice closer to not just the grassroot people living in Akure North Local Government area of Ondo State, but, also persons in the upper class.
She educated them that, the Grade “A” Customary Court is a quicker route for resolution of issues on land even up to the Supreme Court as long as the land is situated in a rural area.
She believed that the completion of the Court Complex will be a veritable asset that the community, lawyers, Judiciary and government can use to drive the administration of justice at the customary court level to an enviable position in the world.
She stated that they owe immense gratitude to the Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his support for the judiciary.
Alade enthused that the court will naturally attract more people into Iju as it drive agricultural modernisation when farmland disputes are resolved with dispatch, being infrastructure development when more people see the need to purchase cocoa from the farmers here, trade and investment facilitation when more probate matters are resolved owing to the crowd the court will attract.
She commended the Ogbolu of Itaogbolu, Oba Idowu Faborode who has been supportive of the initiative to have such a court in the town.
Her words, “He is the brain, blood, vein and bone that have made the iconic Itaogbolu Customary Court Complex not just an idea on paper nor an illusion in our minds.
“Kabiyesi was so receptive of the idea and assured us of his 100 percent support in providing a structure for the Court Complex. Within a short time, he made available a structure and here we are today.”
She noted that taking into cognizance the fact that the state government is saddled with many responsibilities, the Customary Court of Appeal had reached out to spirited individuals that help in driving it’s mandate of bringing justice nearer to the people.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Itaogbolu Development Town Council, Chief S.T Ojo appreciate all that made the project a reality.
He promised that the association will partner with the state government and the judiciary in ensuring that justice is brought more closer to the people by making the office conducive for the officers.
The Ogbolu of Itaogbolu expressed his gratitude to the president, Justice E.A Alade and her entourage for the establishment of the court.
