Amotekun arrests seven over mayhem in Igbokoda

No fewer than seven persons have been arrested by the Amotekun Corps and Ilaje Vigilante Services in connection with the crisis that occurred yesterday in Igbokoda, the headquarters of Ilaje Local Government.

The Hope Metro earlier reported that one of the youths in the community met his untimely death during the clash at a naming ceremony.

Those arrested include; Monday Orugbemi, Ogonor Adedeji, Eniola Iwatan, Ibrahim Abejoye, Akinbola Iwatan, Kazeem Moshood, and Abraham.

Those arrested are suspected cult members and have been taken to the Amotekun headquarters in Akure.

A source from the security agency who confirmed the arrest disclosed that Amotekun personnel stormed the venue of an ongoing naming ceremony to arrest some suspected cultists who gang-raped one Salvation Medoye at Okoga area.

Upon their arrival, they ordered the organizers to stop the ceremony immediately, but the order did not sit well with some of the youths, which led to an argument and further led to the death of Okunneye Sunday Iseoluwa (aka Soldier Boy).

The Publicity Secretary of Ilaje Leadership Forum, Prince Emorioloye Owolemi, who also confirmed the arrest, advised the youths in the area not to take laws into their hands, and that they should allow the security agencies to unravel the circumstances.
