A youth at Okoga in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo state, Okunneye Sunday Iseoluwa (aka Soldier Boy) was reportedly shot dead at a naming ceremony when a clash ensued between Amotekun corps and some residents of the area.

Some youths at the naming ceremony also sustained injuries during the clash.

The Hope Metro gathered that the clash started when Amotekun officers stormed the venue of the naming ceremony and ordered the organizers to stop the ceremony because they trailed a suspected fugitive to the area.

The interference of the Amotekun corps did not go well with some of the youths, and it led to heated argument between them.

The youths demanded to know who the suspected fugitive was and why such gathering would be stopped.

Hope Metro gathered that the Amotekun corps opened fire which led to the death of Okunneye Sunday Iseoluwa (aka Soldier Boy), who was confirmed dead at the General Hospital in Ilara Street, Igbokoda.

According to multiple residents who spoke anonymously with our correspondent, about three other youths suspected to be cultists and one Amotekun officer who sustained injuries are still receiving treatment at a hospital in Igbokoda.

While confirming the incident, Prince Emorioloye Owolemi, the Publicity Secretary of Ilaje Leadership Forum, said all security agencies have been notified for investigation in order to get to the root of the incident.

He called on State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa to urgently intervene so as to prevent reprisal attacks that would disrupt the peaceful coexistence enjoyed in Igbokoda.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that some youths were organizing a naming ceremony in Igbokoda and Amotekun attempted to disperse them because they wanted to arrest a suspect which might be traced to the gathering, but later resulted in an argument when the youths were approaching the Amotekun officers to save the naming ceremony and could trace their suspect elsewhere or when such a suspect is not within a large gathering.

“One of the youth was shot and has been confirmed dead. That is the situation for now. But we are still investigating the incident.

He further advised youths in the area not to take laws into their hands, and that they should allow the security agencies to unravel the circumstances, Prince Emorioloye said.
