ANCOPSS honours Akeredolu over education growth

All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) South West Zone, yesterday conferred on the Ondo State governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, an award of Excellence for his unique contributions to the development of education in the state.

The award of Excellence was presented to the governor at the opening ceremony of the 2019 Mandatory Continuing Professional Training (MCPT), with the theme, “Effects of Social Media on Students’ Academic Performance,” held in Akure, the Ondo state capital.

The South West Bloc Chairman, Mr. Abiodun Omotoso, specially commended governor Akeredolu for giving priority to the welfare of workers in the state.

He explained that the professional training served as an avenue to celebrate, exchange views and ideas, chart a new course for improved teaching and learning, adopt best practices and upgrade the quality of principals.

In his welcome address, the Ondo state ANCOPSS President, Mr. Johnbull Mebawondu, commenced the courage and total commitment of governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to engender development.

He particularly applauded the governor for prompt payment of salaries and arrears, massive renovation and construction of schools, road construction, regular promotion of workers, strong moral and financial support for ANCOPSS, appointment of Tutors-General, sensitisation of girls against breast cancer by the First Lady, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, among other outstanding achievements.

The ANCOPSS President  also expressed hope that the productions and deliveries at the training would add value and flavor to the education sector.

Declaring the event open, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu enjoined all stakeholders in the education sector to join hands together with his administration to uplift the standard of public secondary education in the state.

Akeredolu warned schools against collecting illegal levies and charged the state Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to curtail the ugly trend and be more proactive in ensuring effective supervision and monitoring of schools in the state.
