A Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, the Defense for Yoruba People’s Right (DYPR) has disclosed that the Sunday church attack in Owo, Ondo State was targeted at the government of Ondo State.

The group urged the Federal Government to come to the aide of the Governor by providing more assistance in a bid at safeguarding the lives and property of the people of the State.

The group described the attack as barbaric  which claimed the lives of 30 worshipers and left several injured.

The group noted that the attack was aimed at frustrating the activities of the Governor in his efforts  at sending bandits out of the forests in the State.

The Yoruba group, in a statement commiserated with the Governor, traditional ruler of the town, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, the Catholic Community and the entire resident of the ancient town.

While commending the Governor over what it observed as his sagacity in transforming the State, especially his recent activities by recruiting more officials into the State Security Network code named Amatekun, the move which it said it has further scored the Governor another first in the areas of safeguarding the lives of the people of his State.

The group described the attack as a delibrate one by the bandits aimed at disrupting the peace currently enjoying in the state, however tasked the security operatives to redouble their efforts and arrest those behind the attack which it said it has thrown the state into mourning.

” We can no longer fold our arms and be looking on how our people are being killed, we will not result into violence and do anything that will lead to breakdown of law and order.

“We will continue to call for peace and harmony in the country, but we will not allow the bandits to be killing our people like this, we will continue to urged the governments to double their efforts at safeguarding the lives of the common citizens.”
