Club honours Mekusi

Members of Pace Setters Club, Ijare during the weekend honoured one of their members, Professor Busuyi Mekusi, over his attainment of professorship status at the Department of English and Literary Studies, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko.
Speaking at the event in Akure, the President of Club, Olojugba Oluwaseun, described Professor Mekusi as a unionist per excellence, a pastor, teacher, lecturer and activist.
While introducing the celebrant to the audience, Dr. Adedayo Afe, Acting Head of the Department of History and International Relations, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko said Prof. Mekusi is a very straightforward, honest and industrious person who listens to advice.
The historian, who noted that success has many fathers while failure is an orphan, said that Mekusi is a man who will add value to any job that is given to him. He also assured the celebrant of a brighter future, saying, “This is just the beginning.”
In his speech, Prof. Mekusi thanked his friends for organising the event and expressed appreciation to God for bringing him thus far in life and for all the challenges God had helped him to overcome .
The Professor of Literature, who said the secret behind his resilience and doggedness is that he lives his life based on what God directs him and encouraged those present to return to God and locate their purpose in him.
A guest at the occasion, who is also the Chairman of Editorial Board, Hope Newspaper, Dr. Gbenga Abimbola described Mekusi as “a colleague, a friend and an associate. He is a very principled man, a man with vision, passion and a highly focused person.
He is highly disciplined and rigidly committed to whatever he believes in. “I worked with him in ASUU and we were both in the executive.”
The communication scholar described Mekusi as a man who is stubbornly correct and admonished him to keep up the good works.
