Traditional rulers and community leaders have been urged to lead their people during the monthly environmental exercise to ensure a clean and healthy environment .
Some monarchs in Akoko area of Ondo State stated this during the last environmental exercise held on Saturday.
At Ibaram and Gedegede in Akoko Northwest Local Government, the Olubaram of Ibaram Oba Olusegun Atibioke, mobilised his people to participate actively in the exercise.
Speaking with The Hope, Oba Atibioke said he came out to mobilize his people for the exercise so as to make their environment clean.
According to the monarch, a clean environment will promote healthy life and prevent the spread of diseases.
In a similar vein, the traditional ruler of Gedegede, Oba Walidu Sanni, who participated in the exercise, described the monthly exercise as a legacy inherited from the military which all Nigerians must embrace.
The Director of Environmental Services in Akoko Northwest Local Government, Mrs Yemisi Adeniyi, who led environmental officers during the exercise, urged residents to make their environment clean all the time .
