COVID-19 may be God’s punishment for sin – Clerics

Coronavirus pandemic currently ravaging the whole world may be a direct punishment of God for the iniquities committed by men in disobedience to God’s instructions to stay clear of sin.
This was the submission of Muslim and Christian clerics at the annual Inter Religious prayers organised by the Nigerian Inter Religious Council, Akoko Northwest branch held at Okeagbe Akoko, headquarters of Akoko Northwest Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The clerics said the heinous crimes, shedding of innocent bloods, kidnapping, sodomy , gay and other forms of sins may have made us to incur the wrath of God.
This year edition of the annual inter religious prayer was anchored by an Anglican cleric, Reverend Cannon Samuel Odugbemi and the Chief Imam of Arigidi Akoko, Sheikh Jimoh Balogun.
They were both unanimous in calling on civil servants to work to commensurate with their wages because indolent ones, late comers and those who indulge in any act that can make their organizations record poor output will not go unpunished in the day of judgment.
In his own speech, the chairman of NIREC in the area, Alhaji Ibrahim Kilani, lauded the relationship Christians and Muslims in the local government, adding that a single mis-understanding had not been noticed among followers of the two religious faiths in the area by NIREC.
Kilani urged religious leaders to continue to pray for the leadership of the country for them to be able have wisdom.
The local government chairman, Elder Ayodele Akande commended the peaceful atmosphere pervading the local government area.
Elder Akande assured the people that the year 2021 will witness tremendous developments in the area as against last year which was characterized by COVID-19 pandepidemic ,EndSARS protests, Boko Haram killing, kidnapping and other security challenges.
