Cult attack: Couple missing for two years in Ondo

Palpable fear has continued to grip the residents of Bethlehem street, Oke-Odunwo, in Ondo town, on Wednesday, following the sudden disappearance of a couple, Mr Busayo Olawanle and his wife, Mrs Bukola Olawanle, after suspected cultists unleashed attack on their family.
As at the time of filing this report, the whereabout of the 38-year-old man and his 28-year-old wife in the last two years, remain a puzzle, to their families, friends and acquaintances, as well as several concerned people of the community.
The Hope Metro gathered that the couple had mysteriously disappeared since two years ago when some suspected cult members , known as ‘Ayee confraternity’ suddenly invaded their house on February 28, 2017, to launch attack on the family.
It was learnt that on the fateful day, Busayo’s aged father, Mr Olawanle Akinbolutan and his mother,, Mrs Juliana Akinbolutan, were repoterdly killed by the cultists, while they damaged several property.
But Busayo and his wife Bukola, who were said to be the main target of the attack were rescued out of the house by his bosom friend, after which they took different escape routes for fear of being lynched by the cultists.
Speaking with our correspondent in an emotion laden tone, Mr Joshua Bakare, an octogenarian, and landlord of the missing couple, described the sudden disappearance of Busayo and his wife as a shock,.
He said he got to know the two were missing when they could not return home few days after the incident and were declared missing.
Bakare said all frantic efforts made to locate them had proved abortive, while describing the sudden exit of the two couple from the house as painful,
According to him, Busayo and his wife were a loving, kind and generous couple who always helped, and made valuable contributions towards the welfare of most of the members of their families and their meighbours
The octogenarian, who expressed worry over the whereabout of the couple, however, advised that they should not come home for now, as the suspected cultists were still searching for them.
He appealed to the government, spirited individuals and the public including religious leaders, and traditional practitioners to come to the aid of the family,.
The Hope Metro learnt that the sudden disappearance of the couple had been reported at several police stations in the community, while frantic efforts made by the police to locate the missing persons have yielded no positive result.
