In an attempt to boost the capacity of the Ondo State Primary Health Care System, the government is to establish functional X-ray unit and Standard Dental PHC Units in all PHC Centres, The Hope has gathered.
The establishment of the dental unit will enable dental technicians in the system to get engaged and also provide opportunity to employ more hands into the system.
Also, other elements such as eye care, dental care and care for the elderly have been included in the PHC.
Executive Secretary, Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency(OSPHCDA), Dr. Francis Akanbiemu revealed these yesterday while speaking with The Hope in Akure.
According to him, it is important that the radio diagnostic aspect of the system is strengthened and noted that the agency is fully prepared to ensure that the PHC gets the needed support to respond to emergency situation.
While thanking God for the grace to witness the new year despite the challenges of 2020 especially with the coronavirus which has affected both the economy and health of the people, he reiterated government effort in doing the needful to improve the health of citizens of the state.
Akanbiemu who noted that the agency will fulfill its vision of bringing health care services to people where they live, work and play, explained that the X-tray services will attract more people to the system and as such enable them have trust in its services.
However, he assured that the fee to be charged will be affordable in order to help the system run as an independent PHC system.
