By Jubril Bada

The  Chief Imam of Akure, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Yayi-Akorede has called on the  Federal Government to check the spate of insecurity in the country.

To this end, the Chief Imam suggested the creation of state police to guarantee the protection of lives and property.

He stated this in his message marking this year Eld-El-Kabir celebration held at Akure prayer ground.

He said the establishment of state police will make security in the country more effective.

According to him ”  the existence of security brings about peace in the society and therefore security is more essential than other projects for the development of the country.

“We thank Allah for the peace being enjoyed in Ondo State due to the effort of Akeredolu-led government that put in place Amotekun security network in the state”

Yayi-Akorede also appealed for special considerations for religious and traditional institutions, saying they were the most vulnerable citing  the recent killings of innocent worshippers in Owo.

He said there is need to increase the number of security personnel attached to traditional rulers to avoid the abduction of monarchs.

He admonished the Muslim faithful to join hands with governments by resulting to prayer and hard work as antidotes to all challenges facing the country.

The cleric reminded Muslim faithful to keep to the lessons of the celebration displayed by the Prophet Ibrahim (A S) as a “father of faith” who accepted to slaughter his son Ismail for the fear of Allah in fulfilment of his promise to Him, admonishing them to prepare their minds to pass whatever test that comes their ways.
