The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved several key projects and policy initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, expanding electricity access, strengthening revenue administration and supporting innovation-driven development across the state.
The council gave the approvals at its ninth meeting for 2025 held via Zoom.
The council approved ₦7,723,238,411.12 for the reconstruction of the road networks adjoining the new flyover bridge in Ado-Ekiti.
The project is designed to ease traffic flow and enhance socio-economic activities within the state capital, particularly the Old Garage axis.
Roads listed for rehabilitation include Matthew Road to St. Paul’s Anglican Church; Ijigbo–Ojido–Odo Ado corridor, Mugbagba Roads; Ojumose/Post Office via Ewi’s Palace Road and Atikankan to Baptist Church Road.
The scope of work covers clearing, earthworks, construction of concrete drains, pavement upgrades and asphalt overlay.
The council also approved ₦1,064,544,905.84 for electricity extension and installation of transformers in underserved and unserved communities.
The projects, to be executed by the Ekiti State Electricity Board (EKSEB) through direct labour are expected to be completed within three months.
The initiative aligns with the Oyebanji administration’s drive to expand electricity access and improve public safety and productivity.
The council equally approved ₦1,065,191,850.00 for the construction of a permanent structure to house the Ekiti Start-up Garage under the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Digital Economy.
The approval follows the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)’s commitment to equip the innovation hub.
