Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has assured communities in the state of continous and meaningful developmental projects during his administration.

Akeredolu  gave the assurance  while playing host to the Osemawe of Ondo, Oba Victor Kiladejo who led the traditional council of Ondo kingdom on a courtesy visit to his office in Akure yesterday.

The governor noted that his administration would always put the city on its  priority list.

According to him, there is a plan to ease traffic congestion in the town through by-pass road that will come from Ore linking Akure, the state capital, without obstructing the inner city.

“Ondo matters to us and you should count on us for support. We have a plan to have a by-pass road from Ore to Akure, in a way to ensure that  the route is fascinating to transporters.

“The planning has reached an advanced stage but what we are looking for is  the fund.

“It is a serious thing and it will be given  priority because if we want to make the state an industrial hub, there must be good road network.

“We will address potholes in the town though experts have advised us to do that after the rainy period, but we will do something, “he assured.

The governor also promised that the University of  Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo City would be sustained and start its clinical programme for students of Medicine and Surgery.

“UNIMED is important to us and in our quest to ensure it stands, we felt that there is need for a Teaching Hospital in  Akure, in the interim.

“I have approved take-off grant so that our students in clinicals will have a place to do their programme.

“Ondo to Akure is not far and we are not annexing Akure to Ondo but for the benefit of the whole of Ondo State,” he stated.

Akeredolu highlighted other ongoing works in the town to include the lighting of the streetlights as well as renovation and rehabilitation of school buildings  towards making  learning conducive.

Earlier, Oba Kiladejo congratulated the governor for the good works he has been doing since he assumed office.

The monarch, therefore, requested that the governor  construct a by-pass from Ore passing through Awoyaya and coming out on Akure road to decongest the centre of Ondo community.

According to the traditional ruler, if the road is done, passengers and transporters plying the route will be happy  because the suggested road is shorter.

With the Governor to receive the visitors: Secretary to the Ondo State Government (SSG), Hon Ifedayo Abegunde, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Yemi Olowolabi, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Deaconess Lola Fagbemi and Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr Jibayo Adeyeye.

On the Osemawe’s entourage included; Lisa of Ondo Kingdom, High Chief Simeon Oguntimehin, Jomu of Ondo, High Chief Abiose Akinsade, Odunwo of Ondo, High Chief Olabanji Akingbule, Sasere of Ondo, High Chief Johnson Adedewo, Adaja of Ondo, High Chief Sola Ayodeji and Chairman, Ondo Development Committee (ODC), Chief Ope Bademosi.
