The incident occurred at Iso Alagbado Street, Ilepa, Ikare-Akoko, at about 1:59 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Fire Service, Ondo State Command, Oluwatosin Ogunnaike.
The statement said preliminary investigations indicated that the fire was suspected to have been caused by an electrical surge in the one-storey residential building, which occupies an area measuring about 50 by 100 feet.
It added that firefighters from the Ikare Area Command were immediately deployed after receiving a distress call from a resident. The rescue team was led by Assistant Superintendent of Fire II Busari Akeem.
