Security operatives, supported by local vigilantes, have killed four suspected bandits and rescued two kidnapped victims during an operation in Aboki community, Kaiama Local Government area of Kwara State.
According to security sources, the operatives were swiftly mobilised on Tuesday night following reports of a kidnapping in the community.
A local source said five armed bandits had invaded the area and abducted a resident, identified as Alhaji Tukur.
“Security agents engaged the bandits and neutralised four of them, while one escaped with gunshot wounds. Alhaji Tukur and another victim were rescued unharmed,” the source said.
The latest operation comes amid intensified efforts by security agencies to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes, with authorities reportedly strengthening rapid response capabilities.
Meanwhile, a new Nigerian Army battalion has been approved for Omu Aran in Irepodun Local Government area of Kwara State as part of efforts to bolster security operations against terrorism and banditry across the region.
