Dissatisfied with the lingering fuel crisis across the nation, particularly in Ondo State, the State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has frowned at filling stations hoarding the product, while it handed down warning that anyone caught will face the music.

To this end, the NSCDC said it has embarked on monitoring of filling stations to avert fuel hoarding in the state.

This was disclosed by the State Commandant of the Corps, Dr Hammed Abodunrin, in a telephone chat with The Hope Metro over the weekend.

According to him, “We send our teams out to move round and monitor the activities of filling stations in the state. This is to ensure they are not hoarding their fuel.

“This team do not go alone. We make sure we go out with the officials of DPR and we make sure there is no hoarding of the product.

“There is no doubt about the fact that there is no shortage of fuel supply. We don’t want people to use that opportunity to extort money from buyers and this is the basic reason we embarked on this exercise,” he stated.

At about 7am, a truck with the tag name ‘Oando Oil’ was seen around Oke- Aro area and men of the NSCDC were seen trailing them into a filling station around the area to ensure that they offloaded the product to the station.

Meanwhile, the NNPC Mega station at Ilesa Expressway in Akure, announced yesterday that it’s filling stations had 13 million litres of fuel available for sell, which should bring respite to residents of Akure.

At about 6am this morning, NNPC tankers were seen offloading at the filling stations, while the scene could be likened to a mini-crusade ground as cars have queued up to buy petrol.
