GBV: Ondo Amotekun pledges support for agency

The Commander, Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye has assured the state Agency for Gender Based Violence (GBV) of its support in reducing gender violence in all the 18 local government areas of the state.

Adeleye who double as the Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor on Security Matters, gave this assurance, during a courtesy visit by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Gender, Mrs Olamide Falana to the Corps Headquarters in Akure.

He said: “from the point of the law, we are constrained to abide by what the law stipulates when it comes to violence, we want to assure you that we will give all necessary support to the agency in the state.

“I will direct all my coordinators that the moment they have the quest for arrest or enforcement of such, they should immediately come to your aid.”

He advised that space should be created in the agency to educate women on how to handle issues from two individuals involved in fighting.

Responding, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Gender, Mrs Olamide Falana who commended the Amotekun Corps for ensuring overall security in the state and the implementation of VAP Law, however, sought to partner the Corps for a crime-free society.

” The Corps is no doubt, doing a lot in the area of security of lives and property. We are looking forward to ending Gender Based Violence through the Corps by arresting individuals found guilty of such act.

“There is a lot we can do together with the Command. I hope the meeting we had will bring better partnership”, she said.
