The Yaba Youth Connect (YYC) of Ondo City in Ondo State, has commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the installation of solar-powered streetlights across parts of the town.
The body described the initiative as a boost to security and development.
They said the intervention had improved visibility in the affected areas and contributed to creating a safer environment for residents, especially during night hours.
The group’s executives, including President Mr Tosin Fasan, Vice President Thomas Damilola Joy, Financial Secretary Mr Olaleye Ogunya, and Secretary Adenike Adeniye, expressed appreciation to the governor.
They noted that the project reflected the government’s commitment to addressing the needs of the people.
They said the installation of the solar streetlights would not only enhance security but also improve the overall outlook of the areas covered by the project.
They, however, appealed to the state government to extend the solar streetlight project to some important locations that were not captured in the current phase.
They specifically mentioned the Yaba Police Station and the Area Commander’s Office in Ondo as areas requiring attention due to their importance to security operations in the town.
According to them, providing adequate lighting around the security facilities would support the activities of security personnel and further enhance safety within the community.
The group urged the state government to sustain the implementation of projects that have direct impact on the lives of residents across Ondo State.
They reaffirmed the council’s support for initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and promoting the wellbeing of the people.
They also expressed optimism that the government would consider their appeal and extend the intervention to other strategic locations within the town.
