Ondo State Hospitals Management Board,(HMB) will soon embark on Staff Verification Exercise in order to guarantee effective service delivery, The Hope has gathered.
Permanent Secretary of the board, Dr. Adeniran Ikuomola stated this during an interactive session with leaders of Professional associations within the health sector.
According to him, the verification exercise which was to be conducted in year 2020 was put on hold due to some important state assignments noting that the exercise is not to downsize but for the Board to ascertain the number of staff that are still within the system and at their duty posts as well as to update details of individual staff on the board’s portal.
He emphasized that the exercise is for staff verification and not for staff audit as it has been speculated in some quarters, which he presumed may frighten people.
Ikuomola stated that in order not to act contrary to the wishes of the state government, the management had obtained due approval for the proposed verification exercise.
He assured them that the exercise had been designed to hold at each facility and the staff would be adequately sensitized and modalities to be used would be made available to them.
The Permanent Secretary however assured that adequate security measures will be provided to ensure that the exercise becomes successful.
Dr. Adeniran Ikuomola also enjoined the Union Leaders to continue to encourage their members, who are staff of HMB, to be more dedicated to their duties as the present administration is working assiduously to provide for their well-being.
In their responses, Chairman, National Association of Medical & Health Workers Union of Nigeria, (MHWUN), Fakinlade Alake, Chairman, National Association of Nigerian Nurses & Midwives (NANNM), Olomiye Kehinde and Chairman, Nigerian Medical Association. Dr.(Mrs) Stella Adegbehingbe among others encouraged management of the Board to obtain approval from the relevant authority.
They equally emphasized that members of staff should be adequately sensitized on the modalities agreed to be used and also, the exercise should be conducted at various facilities to make it easier for members of staff.
Similarly, they advised that the management should consider the security situation of the country and seek for security guards from relevant security agencies.
