IGR: HoS seeks workers’ support

Ondo State Head of Service, Pastor John Adeyemo has called on civil servants to support government in achieving the desired continuous increase in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for regular payment of workers’ salary.
He made the call yesterday during his interaction with Change Ambassadors in Akure.
According to him, the world is currently experiencing a major financial down-turn occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic, adding that it has reflected in the delay and percentage pay in salaries so far.
He explained that with the issuance of vaccination and resumption of commercial activities globally, will bring improvement to the situation.
“I will urge you all to be patient with government and be diligent. That which is owed shall be paid, in due course.”
While expressing appreciation to the state government for the initiative of the programme, which according to him has brought improvement to the public service, he charged change agents on the need for positive and incremental change in the service.
He admonished them to brace up for the best in their respective MDAs and added that they should do their best in order to have a better society.
He stressed the need for all to key into the state health insurance scheme in order to enjoy welfare package as civil servants saying “it will help to improve our health.”
Describing the programme as another form of quality assurance, he called on participants to be more effective in their MDAs.
Speaking with The Hope shortly after delivering a paper on “Introduction to the concept of performance evaluation”, Dr. Patrick Tolani said participants have been equipped with the knowledge of their roles in making the agenda work saying ” they should replicate it in their MDAs. The change agents don’t only change themselves but also others.”
Speaking on the usage, benefit and navigation around the new Human Resource Management(HRM) platform, Mr Emmanuel Abiodun stated that the ongoing platform is expected to capture civil servants in the state adding that with it, the administrator can create new user, new staff and assign roles among others.
According to him, MDAs can generate the total number of staff verified, the nominal role, disposition list, list of staff due for promotion, personnel details and summary among others.
Permanent Secretary, Reform Office, Mr. Gbenga Akingbasote stated that the state human resource management will soon be used for salary payment, adding that it is effective in checkmating ghost workers.
However, he stressed the need for regular update activity on the HRM system.
A participant, Mr Ayo Falana who explained that the quarterly programme has been put in place to have a change in performance, assured of replication of all learnt in order to achieve positive performance in the MDAs.
