The South West caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal House of Representatives has backed the Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in his fight against crimes and criminality in the region.
They gave their total support yesterday during their solidarity visit to the Governor who also doubles as chairman, South West Governors’ Forum in his office.
The House of Representatives members who specifically lauded the chairman, South West Governors’ Forum for standing firm against criminals in the region, equally assured him of the necessary supports to rid the region of all forms of crimes and criminality.
The APC caucus led by Femi Fakeye of Osun state said they were in the state on Solidarity visit to the governor to commend him for his stand against all forms of crimes and criminality in the South West States.
Other lawmakers present were Dolapo Badru from Lagos and Mayowa Akinfolarin from Ondo States. Lawmakers from Ondo State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun were also in attendance.
The caucus decried what it described as precarious security situation in the South-West, saying all legal efforts by the chairman; South-West Governors’ Forum would be supported to reverse the ugly situation.
Fakeye who spoke on behalf of all the 72 members of the APC in the region, said they were all in support of any lawful step taken by Governor Akeredolu and his colleagues in South-West to flush out any criminal from the nook and cranny of the territory
Fakeye who represented Ifedayo/ Boluwaduro/Ila in the Federal House of Representatives in Osun state, noted that Nigeria is a large country with many nationalities, but the culture of each nationalities must be taken into consideration in the interest of peace and development of the country.
“No culture can impose its own views or ways of life on any other culture.
“Mr Governor, I bring greetings from all the 72 members from the South West and we are here to say any step within the law of Nigeria, any legislative step that you and other South West Governors take to flush out any criminal from the nook and cranny of our territory we are in support”, he added.
The team equally lauded the governor for his various infrastructural development across the state, adding that his works speak volume and have ensured his second term reelection victory in the state.
Welcoming the lawmakers, Ondo state Governor and Chairman, South-West Governors’ Forum, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, appreciated them for their solidarity, saying that time has come for everybody in the South-West to stand together against criminality in the region.
He reiterated his total commitment to the protection of lives and property of the people, adding that he would not fail in his constitutional responsibility to the citizenry.
He revealed that it was part of the step to secure Ondo state and South-West region that led to the establishment of the Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun Corps, promising not to relent in his efforts at defending the people in the region.
Governor Akeredolu also harped on the need for state police for more security of lives and property of the citizens.
