Man, 35, defrauds woman in need of charms

A 35-year old okada man, Isaac Ogunmola, has been dragged before an Akure Magistrate Court for fraudulently obtaining the sum of N50, 000, under the pretence of making charm and prayers for one Omolayo Ojo.

The defendant, identified as Pastor, was said to have committed the offence in February 29, 2020 at about 4pm at No. 28, Ore Ofe, street Oke Ijebu, Akure, in the Akure Magisterial District.

The alleged offence was contrary to section 383 and punishable under sections 419(A) and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37,Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State Nigeria 2006.

The prosecutor, Inspector Suleiman Abdullateef, informed the court of his intention to produce four witnesses to prosecute the matter. But, he asked for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and assembles his witnesses.

Lawyer representing the defendant, Mr Isaac Adubasi, did not oppose the adjournment sought by the prosecutor. But he prayed the court to grant the defendant bail in most liberal term.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. F.A Oduroja, granted  the defendant bail in sum of N100, 000, with one surety in like sum. She said the surety must be resident within the court jurisdiction and must swear to an affidavit with which she adjourned the matter till  March 27, this year.
