Man, 35, in court for threat to life

A 35-year-old man, Uche Chukwuma has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrates Court for allegedly stealing N6,500,000 and threat to life.
The accused person who pleaded not guilty to the allegations committed the offence between December, 2018 and August 26, 2020 in Osogbo.
Police Prosecutor, Elisha Olusegun told the court that the accused person with intent to defraud, unlawfully obtained a loan of N 6,500,000 at 10 percent monthly interest rate from a company.
According to him, the accused person refused to pay and the money accumulated to the sum of One hundred and two million, five hundred and seventy five thousand naira ( N 102, 575,000).
He alleged that the accused person threatened to assassinate Stanley Ginika in order not to pay the loan he collected.
The prosecutor further told the court that the accused person issued Diamond Bank Cheque No. 10413711 to one Stanley Ginika to withdraw the sum of N 2,200,000 which was dishonored at the Bank and written drawers attention is required (DAR) by the Stanbic Bank in Osogbo.
He stated that the offence committed was contrary to and punishable under Sections 419, 390(9), 86 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 vol.II Laws of Osun State Nigeria, 2002 and Section 1(1)(b) of the dishonored cheque (Offences) Act, Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
Defence Counsel, Adeyemi Adedeji prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms, promising to provide reliable sureties.
In his ruling, Magistrate Ishola Omisade granted the accused person bail in the sum of N 5,000,000 with 2 sureties in like sum.
He thereby adjourned the case till November 16, 2020 for hearing.
