A popular cocoa merchant in Supare Akoko, Idowu Shaba, has miraculously escaped from kidnappers den on Thursday when his abductors slept off.

This came few weeks ago, when another victim escaped from his abductors’ den in Eriti Akoko, Akoko Northwest, when they (kidnappers) slept off.

Fifty five years old Shaba was said to be on his way to Idoani for a church  programme along with others, when they were suddenly waylaid by unknown gunmen between Afo and Idoani.

The gunmen reportedly abducted him and a lady and whisked them into the bush.

According to a source, the two victims were led to the forest with their hands tied.

The source disclosed that the kidnappers had demanded for N10 million ransom before their escape.

According to the source, Shaba had pretended to be in deep asleep, snoring heavily in the night.

“That, must have made his abductors, who believed that their victims were deep asleep to also took their time to sleep with comfort.

“Shaba, seized the opportunity to carry their weapons and used their sharp cutlasses to kill two of them and wounded another who ran away.

“He took his anductors Ak-47 rifle, cutlasses and other dangerous weapon in their possession and also rescued the other lady in their den,”he narrated.

The source said the rifles had police inscriptions.

It was not cleared to this correspondent whether the recovered weapons were delivered to the police or Amotekun Corps at Supare Akoko.

When the Divisional Police Officer for Oba Akoko Division, CSP Kehinde Fabunmi was contacted, he said the incident did not happen in his division as it occurred between Afo and Idoani.

Efforts to speak with the victim and the Divisional Police Officer at Supare Akoko, proved abortive as at filing this report.

But a resident of Supare Akoko, Mr Amusa Ehinjuanobi confirmed the incident to The Hope Metro.
