Ondo State workers have been charged to renew their focus on efficient service delivery as the state marked this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.

In his message to workers, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Chief Olamide Oladiji underscored the central role of public servants in the progress of the state, describing them as the “engine room” of the government.

He called on all public workers to give their best to ensure the continued development of Ondo State.

“Workers are the foundation of our government and their role in advancing the state’s policies cannot be overstated. I urge every worker to stay committed to delivering top-quality service for the betterment of Ondo State,” Oladiji said.

The Speaker also lauded the efforts of the current administration, which, under the leadership of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has introduced several initiatives such as the Ondo Service Improvement Programme (OSIP) and the Public Service Training Institute, aimed at equipping public servants with the skills needed for efficient service delivery.

Oladiji assured that the government will continue to prioritise workers’ welfare and that no effort would be spared in enhancing their well-being.

Also, the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, expressed appreciation for the state’s workforce, commending their resilience and dedication to service.

He also announced that the Aiyedatiwa administration is committed to enhancing workers’ rights through a series of reforms, including the enforcement of minimum wage laws, improved workplace health and safety standards, and expanded access to social security benefits.

“Workers are the backbone of any society, and their unwavering dedication is what drives progress. Under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, the government remains committed to improving the lives of our workers and creating a safe and productive work environment,” Dr. Ajulo stated.

On his part, the Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip, also joined in the celebration, expressing gratitude to workers for their contributions to the state’s industrial peace.

He acknowledged the ongoing collaboration between the workforce and the government, which he said has fostered a harmonious working environment in the state.

“I thank all our workers for their professionalism, commitment and understanding. The government will continue to prioritise your welfare and ensure a conducive environment for you to thrive,” Philip added.

Also, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State commended workers for their resilience, dedication and commitment to industrial harmony, describing the current cordial relationship between labour and the government as exemplary.

In a statement commemorating the 2025 Workers’ Day, the state Chairman of the APC, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, praised the workforce for aligning with the developmental goals of the state.

He said the prevailing peace in the labour sector reflects a rare synergy between the government and employees.

Adetimehin applauded the state government for its proactive approach to workers’ welfare, including the implementation of the minimum wage last year and the prioritisation of staff well-being.
