Ondo State House of Assembly has charged beneficiaries of micro credit loans in the State to pay back for others to benefit.
The House pledged to support every move that will generate employment and promote the wealth of the masses for sustainable livelihood.
The Chairman House Committee on Commerce and Industry, Afe Felix made the pledge when he led other members on familiarisation visit to the Ondo State Micro Credit Agency(OSMA) in Akure.
He assured the committee’s necessary support towards alleviating poverty in the State.
He informed that the visit became necessary to know each other, how best they can collaborate with the agency, and how their challenges can be tackled to boost the economy of the State.
The Committee stressed the need to strengthen the Agency to enable it delivered on its mandate.
The Chairman OSMA, Mrs Adenike Ademujimi who briefed the committee on the activities of the Agency, said that the Agency was created by law to cater for the vulnerable productive people and empower them to be self reliant.
She added that credit facilities are granted to members of the public through the Agency’s various scheme after the laid down conditions have been met.
The OSMA boss who solicited the support of the committee in reviving the Agency, informed that those given loans did not pay back as expected, depriving others from benefitting.
